• We did demos of how to do wax stencils.
• We did demos of how to do wax with sumi-e ink, black walnut, and brushes.
• We did demos of how to do multiple layers of wax on one piece of paper.
• We experimented with absorbent paper such as Japanese sumi-e paper,
  140 lb hot pressed arches paper,
  cold pressed arches cover paper,
  and we found that the hot pressed 140 pound arches paper worked very well. And so did the sumi-e paper.

Thanks everyone who came out to my Encaustic Monotype demo! My favorite part was watching people make their own monotypes, after my first part of the demo was over. We had so many surprises! For example, it’s easier to do representational work in encaustic monotype than I thought! And people LOVED the surprise of seeing how their work would come out.
